Halo for Xbox were developed by Bungie and are first person shooters in which the player experiences actions from the protagonist’s perspective. The term Halo means Halo mega-structures: large, habitable ringed structures. Fueled by the success of Halo: Combat Evolved, Xbox version released two sequels and called them the Halo Trilogy.
Halo for Xbox 2 was released on the Xbox and later for Windows Vista on November 9, 2004 ad on May 17, 2007, respectively. Halo 2 was released in two different editions: a standard edition with the game disc and traditional Xbox packaging and the collector’s edition with a specially designed aluminum case along with an additional bonus DVD, extra booklet and slightly different user manual. Halo for Xbox 3 was released on Xbox 360 on September 25, 2007. Halo 3 is the final game in the Halo trilogy. Halo for Xbox 3 adds new vehicles, new weapons and a class of items called equipmet. The game also featured a limited map-editing tool known as the Forge, which let the players to insert game objects into existing multiplayer map geometry. Halo for Xbox 3 associates recording of game play sessions and view as a video from any angle.
Halo 3 which break the record set by Halo 2 in 2004, sold more than $170 million worth of copies in the first 24 hours of release. Robust sales of Halo for Xbox led to the franchise’s expansion like bestselling novels. Besides of the Halo Trilogy, other Halo games have branched off into other video game genres like Halo Wars. Microsoft announced the making of Halo for Xbox 4 and will be released worldwide this year, November 6, 2012.
